Seed Ball Workshop, For The Love of Bees – Myers Park Medley

  • Myers Park Auckland (map)

Rally the whanau together and join For The Love of Bees from 12 – 5pm this Sunday as we create and distribute thousands of Seed Balls for our pollinator friends at the Myers Park Medley.

The clay seed pellet, also known as “seed bombs” in guerilla gardening, is an ancient method of agriculture that was popularized through Masanobu Fukuoka, a Permaculture father figure who uses clay seed balls to ‘naturally farm’ rice and other grains on his farm in Japan.

From 12 – 5 a team of us will be stationed in the park, armed with thousands of seeds of all colors, shapes, and sizes, as well as all the equipment (and biology) needed to bring these seeds into life. We will explain and demonstrate the methods that Masanobu himself uses to create these seed balls and together we will create thousands of Seed Balls, which anyone can take home and use to grow their own pollinator / wildflower Bee garden at home.

Excitingly, in the week following, @beethings will be installing three new beehives at our freshly sown Pasture Painting above the Myers Park playground.

So please come and say hi, take a seed ball or ten and check out the wonderful location of the new pasture painting, soon to be flourishing with bees and thousands of flowers.

We would love to see you all!
