Help Design and Make a Pasture Painting in Victoria Park

  • Victoria Park, Auckland (map)

We have started designing stage one of the Pasture Painting ( a space that grows safe flowers for bees) for our Victoria Park bees.

We have even got the first shape placed on the ground. Workshop #2 will have us revisit the design now it is in the Park itself.

We will continue to refine our ideas and begin to prepare the ground for sowing seeds using permaculture strategies such as sheet mulching and laying down black plastic to kill the grass.

We will begin to sow one of our shapes with organic seeds using biological benefical microorganisms.

Our designs will create new plantings to feed the cities bees thinking about colour, shape, flowers, months of the years plants provide food for bees and other permaculture and biological considerations.

The workshops will be run over several weeks to allow participants to learn as much as possible and to contribute to this city amenity in a meaningful way.

We will meet at 10 at the Historical Kindergarten in Victoria Park and then move across the park to work on the site next to the bees.

Facilitated by David Cains with the support of Sarah Smuts-Kennedy.
