Bees in your Garden - Permaculture Thinking for Children

  • 42 Wellesley Street West Auckland, Auckland, 1010 New Zealand (map)

Part of the For the Love of Bees- School Holiday Program
Permaculture Thinking for Children

“Do you love bees and butterflies?

In this class we will be learning about important pollinators and how you can attract them to your garden using natural methods. We will be helping you design your own pollinator friendly garden using permaculture techniques.

Please come to this class with a drawing or image that maps your garden. Have a look at where the sun is in your garden it at different times of the day and draw where the sun hits the garden on your map. Make a list of plants that you have in your garden that might be yummy food for bees. If you don’t know what the flowering plants are in your garden, you can bring some with you and we will help you identify them. Have a talk with your family about where you might be allowed to plant some more flowers for bees this winter.

If you don't have a garden, don't worry you can still join in this workshop by thinking about your school or your street. As long as you have a space to imagine working in then you have everything you need to participate in this workshop.
